Your choice depends on your building layout, whether you work indoors or outdoors, and how high your storage racks go.

What Is a Counterbalance Forklift?

Counterbalance forklifts hold their capacity better at lower heights and commonly handle 3,000 to 5,000 lbs, with heavy-duty models rated well beyond that.

If your pallets are heavy and your racking is low, a counterbalance forklift keeps more of its rated capacity available. If your racking is tall and your pallets are lighter, a reach truck’s height advantage matters more than the capacity it gives up.
